Some workouts are meant for one person.

Today’s Couch to 5k run didn’t go as smoothly as the last.  Dozer was not cooperating at all.  After he pooped in the middle of the sidewalk at the park and then nearly attacked a teenage boy as I was telling another teenager to watch out for the poop he was about to step in, I took him home at about 12 minutes into the jog/walk.

Afterward taking Dozer home and getting a quick drink of water I was able to finish the full 20 minutes and then some.  I think my end time was 21 minutes and 35 seconds, which is great because my goal was 19 minutes since I only made 18 last time.  I felt very proud when I got home.  I was even more proud of my hard work when AJ told me I had to shower because I smelled sweaty!

I am a lot less sore this time around also.  I drank a whole lot of water today (about 4 glasses), took my vitamins this morning, had a “Pre-Work Out” drink (apparently it gives you more energy and helps with this soreness afterwards), and had a small protein drink this afternoon.  I did 20 minutes of yoga before my jog as well, which helped with the muscles that were already sore from the other day.

All in all, I am feeling pretty confident.  Now don’t get me wrong, I have a LONG way to go, but it is turning out a lot better than what I expected day 2 to be.

Lesson of the day:  Only take Dozer for a run 1, maybe 2 days a week.  It’s better therapy to be by yourself every now and then though.

I still love my little workout buddy though.  Even if he’s a pain in the butt every now and then…

Who needs a workout buddy when you got a dog?

While I was sitting on my butt for an hour, letting Pinterest take over my life, I finally started searching for more productive pins.  My Fitness inspiration folder quickly began to become full of pins within a matter of minutes.

I came across a pin called Couch to 5k Plan.  After reading it, I realized when I went into my little running phase last year, I was going about it all wrong.  Instead of just jumping in feet first (pun intended) and begin running thinking that maybe someday it would become easier, this plan puts everything into weekly levels.  This helps you progress every week until you are able to run a 5k.

I have always wanted to run a 5k, especially one for charity (I don’t know if you’ve learned that about me yet, but I LOVE donating to charities and volunteering).  I’m hoping this program helps me be able to reach this personal goal and maybe a few fitness goals along the way.

Today was day 1 of week 1 for me and let me tell you, it kicked my butt!  In the end, I feel really good about it though.  It feels good to work up a good sweat.

I made it 18 minutes of what was originally supposed to be 20 minutes of jogging and walking.  If my dog, Dozer, wasn’t with me though, I don’t think I would have made it any more than 10 minutes!  Thanks Dozer!

So, you may be asking, what is to come of this new hobby.  AJ and I have wanted our family to start eating more healthy foods anyways, and AJ wants to start working out too, but he’d rather do it at home than work.  I will be updating on my progress and how my work outs go, along with healthy food deals and coupons.

Let me know if you have ever ran a 5k or plan to.  I’d also like to hear what everyone does to save money while still eating healthy.  To see more of my Fitness Inspiration pins and other helpful pins, follow me on Pinterest at

Guest Posts Ideas

I am considering the idea of accepting guests to submit posts that I can put up on the blog.  I think it’d be nice for the other readers and myself to see things the way another person sees them.

It may be about what you do to live frugal, your experiences with couponing, your experiences as a mom (funny moments, proud mommy moments, embarrassing moments), your own Potty Time Update, a great deal you found, an awesome shopping trip for you, a DIY craft, Freezer cooking for you, or a Last Nights Dinner (a post about feeding your whole family for under $10).

If you think of anything along these lines and decide to write something, email your submission to and I will read it and decide if it is something that I think the readers will be interested in reading.

I think this could be a really fun idea so please don’t be shy and let me know if you are interested in doing this. And please remember, my blog isn’t only about couponing, it’s about being a mother in general and also it’s about living more frugal, not just with coupons. So don’t feel like your submission has to be able couponing only. If you choose to, your post may be submitted anonymously. And posts may be submited by other bloggers.

Please let me know and we can get started right away.

Make extra cash without having yardsales!

Now I don’t know about the rest of you mommies out there, but I have my son’s baby clothes and toys coming out of my ears!!  I have a huge storage trunk so full of clothes that I can’t close it.  And not like, it’s just full enough that the top cant latch, it’s so full that the top can’t even go down just a little big!

Now these clothes (and don’t even get me started on the toys!) are taking up so much room in my house that it is driving me absolutely insane.  I’ve been saving his clothes from the past 3 years, in hopes that we were going to have another baby sooner than later.  Now we are absolutely sure that we would like to have baby #2 within the next year, but I am running out of room for all these clothes!  And what if I have a girl in the end?  All that saving for nothing then!  Also, with our family, baby #2 will more than likely have plenty of their own clothes without needing any of Brody’s hand-me downs right away.

I was planning on selling things in a yard sale this summer, but I would probably have to have several yard sales within the summer just to get rid of it all.  We are normally really busy during the summer.  Multiple yard sales would be terribly time consuming for me, so I needed to look elsewhere to get rid of clothes.

I also thought about going to second hand stores like Once Upon a Child, which is a great way to get rid of clothes if it works for you.  You have to bring in your items you’re selling, wait for them to look at everything, and then you have to either take what they are willing to pay you for them or take it all back home.  And then sometimes, they won’t take everything you have offered them.  Don’t get me wrong, I love shopping at these stores, but it seems like an awful lot of work to just get some clothes gone.

Then there is always Craigslist.  Personally, I have absolutely no luck buying, selling, or even getting jobs on Craigslist.  Everything ends up being a scam!  I pretty much don’t even bother to look at Craigslist anymore because everything I clicked on was a scam and not what it said it was.

Craigslist may work for you though.  My friend has the best Craigslist luck and is always finding super cheap or free stuff all the time.  But I never have the same outcome.  So I say, if you are planning on buying or selling something on Craigslist do so at your own risk.

Here’s my solution; I was recently introduced to a local Facebook Group in my area that is like a cyber yard sale.  Everyone in the group posts what they have for sale and people buy it.  So far this week, I have sold about $19 worth of my son’s clothes and it’s all to people in my area that would probably be coming to my yard sale anyways.  But the golden thing is, we can meet in public places and they don’t have to know where I live or anything.

If you are in the same position as me, do a search on Facebook for yard sale groups in your area and if you can’t find one, start a group yourself.  You wouldn’t believe how many people join these kinds of groups and post sales every day.  I love this idea and think everyone should look into it.

Make sure though that if you end up buying or selling things in this way that you play by some personal rules.  Don’t meet someone at their house or at yours.  You never know who is going to respond to your post about selling a swing set.  Always meet in public places or bring a buddy with you.  And don’t do anything you are uncomfortable with just to make a dollar.  With Facebook communications, no one really needs your phone number or anything like that.  Be aware and be smart about buying and selling!

I plan to continue to do this virtual yard sale.  Not just for Brody’s old clothes either, but for my clothes, toys, household items that go unused, and anything else we would like to get rid of.

Let me know if you have done this before and if it works for you.  Also let me know if you plan to start buying and selling things this way.

Thanks for reading,
